Be very careful with beef products. Red meat such as steaks are always to be avoided. A leaner cut of beef, such as roast beef, can be safe when not in a flare up.

When I learned I had Crohn’s, I cut beef almost completely out of my diet and changed over to a game meat diet. It was the best decision of my life and for my health. I wish they had a page for venison and bison on this website because it’s such a good alternative to beef. While I understand bison and venison could be considered a different type of “red meat”, game meat on its own is much less in fat and is a lot more lean. Highly, HIGHLY recommend others with Crohns and possibly Colitis to give Venison & Bison a try in replacement of beef.
